Happy Anniversary to us!!

Rooster and I married 16 years ago today.  August 4, 1997.  It was a very hot day.  The ride to the Courthouse was tense.  I have never seen Rooster nervous.  We eloped that Monday morning.  A mutual friend and my sister showed up to witness.  I didn't expect to see my parents.  They did not care to be at our wedding.  I could not wait to take his name.  I was crying while he said his vows.  He said "his unlawfully bedded wife".  The judge had to take a minute to compose himself.

We have had our ups and downs.  But I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband.  He is my best friend and my hero.  I thank God every day for this wonderful gift.

People ask us what our secret is.  It isn't a secret.  We made those vows and intend to keep them.

God Bless and have a wonderful day.

A breath of fresh air

This is one of the views from the parking lot of our apartment building.  I really enjoy it.  We get to see sea birds, fish jumping out, and once even a gator.

My Rooster and I have been taking the time to walk down to the water every evening.  We have a few minutes together.  It is like a breath of fresh air into our day.  Even if it is just a few minutes.

We got Bri last night and some bread to feed the ducks.  There was another little girl from the complex there with her Daddy.  She walked over and was feeding the ducks also.  My Rooster and this young man struck up a conversation.  Bri and I were walking over to the dock and I invited the little girl to go with us.  The man nervously told her she could go with us.  Seems that he hadn't had custody of her long and was nervous.  It had been a very long road for him.  The two girls and I went to the dock and watched the boats.  When we returned, the man was much more relaxed.  I think that talking to my Rooster helped him.  I think he needed to talk to another man.  Rooster is very good at this.

I admire my Rooster so much.  As trying as this time has been for us, I have to thank God for the growth for all of us.  I have seen things in Rooster that I wouldn't have noticed before.  As a matter of fact, I have been seeing lots of things that I would not have noticed before.  My life was too busy and we weren't enjoying the life that we had and missing the small beautiful things.

It is very strange to be thankful in a time of our life that is so messy right now.  But I am thankful.  I am thankful for seeing the beautiful little things that I missed before.  I am thankful for my wonderful Husband that has so much to offer.  I am thankful for my beautiful daughter who loves to dance to her own beat.

As I was getting ready to sleep last night, I was laying with my head on Rooster's chest.  I am blessed.  So much more than I could have ever imagined.  I just needed to learn to see it.

Is it still hard?  Yes.  But it is worth working hard for it.

Do you see all the blessings in your life?  Even the little ones?  What do you do to keep finding the little gems in everyday life?

God Bless,
Amy

Mr. Rooster's Recipes

Since I have been back to work on a part time basis, Mr. Rooster has been doing some cooking.

Tonight he made his Spaghetti Bake.  It is very simple.  He makes a whole box of spaghetti, mixes it with two cans of Hunts sauce, tops it with shredded cheese, and bakes it at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.  MMMMmmmm.  It tastes so much better than just plain old spaghetti.

I tossed the ingredients into the bread machine earlier, so we had a nice loaf of fresh bread.  You can find this super easy bread machine bread here:  http://allrecipes.com/recipe/best-bread-machine-bread/detail.aspx  This always comes out good.  I use whatever oil that I have on hand.  I make this loaf often.

It is funny also because the pan that he uses has a rooster on the bottom.

Have a wonderful day.

Is time alone possible?? LOL

It is late.  Bri is in bed.  Rooster and I are watching "Flashpoint".  Suddenly, we aren't really interested in the show.

We go into our room and shut the door.  Time for just us.  Oh boy!!

The dog barges in and hops on the bed and starts loudly chewing on a rawhide.  We give the rawhide a chuck into the hallway.  Now Bri comes thru the door.  She wants a group hug.  We get her back into her room.  The dog is back on the bed with her rawhide.

Rooster and I start to laugh.  The mood is just plain broken.  He hugs me and we just laugh.  What else can you say?

Friday Night is Date Night at the Morgan House

http://antiqueclipart.com/image.php/a-quiet-afternoon-together.html

I didn't realize how much we would enjoy date night.  We don't go "out" because we don't know many people around to leave Bri with.  So we started date night at home.  (Great ideas at Dating Divas  See link on sideboard)

Every Friday night we spend time together.  Bri gets something new to watch and a treat to eat.  We watch tv, a movie, or just talk.  We really look forward to it.

Bri is really good about spending the evening in her room to let Mom and Dad have the night together.  I have helped pave the way for this by Daddy and Bri night on Saturday nights.  They eat dinner together and watch tv, play a game, or watch a movie.  If I am not at work, I use this as Mommy time.  I read magazines, take a nice bath, crochet, or just go to bed early.  Great relaxing and refueling for me.

I didn't think we needed date night before.  But we really look forward to it.  One night I was sick and just went to bed.  Rooster told me that he was very disappointed.  It really makes a difference.

Do you have a date night?  What do you like to do?  Why don't you have a date night?

Have a great weekend.

Walking in faith

Good morning.  I hope that you are well today.  We are doing ok.  Things are about the same here.  The way that I look at things are changing.  I sat on the steps this morning, enjoyed a nice breeze, and watched the boats on the lake.  I am very blessed.  Counting those blessings is helping me keep things in perspective.  Trying to take one day at a time.  Spend a lot of time listening to a really nice Christian station called KSBJ.  You can listen to it here:  http://www.ksbj.org/

I worked a very long day yesterday.  Got some sun and was burned a little.  But Rooster had put the Aloe Gel in the refrig and it was wonderfully cold on my back.  Very hot here.  We saw 86 yesterday.  Welcome to Houston weather.  LOL

We are gearing up for Mother's Day at work.  So I was busy putting hanging basket holders out and putting hanging baskets on them.  We got some very beautiful flowers in.  I love the rust, peach, and yellow that are out this year.

Came home to a nice dinner made by my Rooster.  He made a beef roast, carrots, and potatoes.  It was so good.  I think it was even better since he made it.  Now I understand why he enjoys coming home to dinner being made by me.  Plus a nice cup of tea.

Bri is doing better.  Rooster has taken her to the pool a few times.  That cheers her up.  Plus it is good for her to get some exercise.  She sleeps better.  I am looking at curriculum for fall.

That is about all that is new here.  Take care and have a blessed day.

Where do I start?

Things here have gone crazy.  George was laid off from work.  I took a part time job.  We got unemployment.  Work changed their story and we lost our unemployment.  George got a letter telling him he was fired.  So here we are.

George pinched his sciatic nerve and will be off a few more weeks.  He is in constant pain.  We don't have the money to go to the doctor.  But there isn't much that a doctor will do except do a MRI, tell us that they can't find anything and put him on drugs for the pain.  He will not walk down that drugs for pain road.  We don't have the money for the MRI.

I am working at a Home Depot in the Garden department.  I like it.  I enjoy dealing with customers.  It is part time/seasonal.  So I get between 20 and 25 hours a week.  It has been strange going back to work.  I haven't really worked a "real" job since I left the hospital when I found out I was pregnant with Bri.  Spent some days really hurting and sore from standing/walking/lifting.  Plus I am not use to 8 hour days on my feet.  I have to load mulch, pavers, etc same as the guys.

Bri is having some trouble adjusting.  Daddy does the education when I have to work.  That is a good thing as his forte is science and history.  We are trying to make it a positive thing.  But she got really upset one day that I had to go to work.  I was almost crying all the way to work.  But I don't have a choice right now.

I am trying to keep my head up.  I pray so much about George getting better, a new job coming up, and getting back to my job at home.  I have had some very low days.

I joined a Thursday morning Ladies bible study.  In the fall, Bri will be able to join the homeschool bible study.  My friend Kirsten invited me and I really enjoyed it.

Would you please take the time to pray for us today?  I am trying hard not to let this bring me down.  I know worrying is a sin.  I am trying not to let Bri worry either.

My email is amymorgan1970@aol.com    If you would send me some words of encouragement, I would be so grateful.  Some days are worse than others.

Thank you so much.

Over the hump day

Well, we have done all the paperwork and stuff for Rooster's unemployment.  Now we are waiting for approval.  I am trying not to worry and leave it in God's hands.

It is very hard not to worry.  So much to think about.  I am trying to "Let go and Let God."

Now I am trying to turn my thoughts to Easter Week.  What is on your menu, plan, or mind this week?

Tens bags of stuff!!

I don't have pictures.  But I gave away five bags of clothes.  There are still five bags with adult clothes, books, mags, and bedclothes.  What a relief to see stuff going.

My Rooster was really happy with seeing the stuff go to.

In other things, we are all sick with a cold again.  Yuck.  We went thru this like two weeks ago.  The warm then cold weather probably isn't helping.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend.  I hope we are all feeling better.  I really hate to have a cold.  LOL

What are you doing for Lent?

While I was surfing thru bloggy land, I came across this post.  40 bags in 40 days.  What a great idea.  Please use this link to check it out.

Simple, yet it will help cut the clutter in the house.

I think that I want to start in our bedroom closet.

Where will you start?

How about Black Forest cupcakes?

I found this recipe on Martha Stewart's site.  My Rooster loves Black Forest cake and I thought this might be a great way to make it.  See, Rooster has is a diabetic and we don't usually eat a whole cake.  This way I could make it and share them.  I don't like having cake around that much.

Here is another great Valentine's idea.  This one can be a bit naughty.  So have fun with it.

Today is beautiful here.  We will most likely see 70 degrees.  I am happy to see the sun and the nice weather.  It is a shame that I am fighting a cold.

Have a wonderful day.

Being your hubby's Valentine

Saw this post this morning and I thought it was a great idea.

http://joybright.blogspot.com/2013/01/be-my-valentine-marriage-challenge-week.html

With how crazy life gets, it is very easy to forget having a relationship with your hubby and how much you miss it when you look for it.

What are you going to do for Valentine's Day with your Hubby?  Bri and I are going to a Valentine's Day party during the day with our homeschool group.  But I am thinking of ideas for Rooster and I Valentine's night.  Rooster loves coffee cake.  I am thinking about dessert and coffee/tea.  Candles and just spending some time together.  What are your ideas?

Hello 2013! Plus a photo of the tattoo

Are you still writing 2012 on checks?  I know I did.  I had to tear open a bill and change it.

It is rainy and dreary here today.  We are looking at getting several inches of rain in the next few days.  But we are so behind in rain, it will be a good thing.  Hard to get started in the morning with the dark and coolness.

Ok, here it is.  Everyone has been asking me to put up a photo of Rooster's tattoo.  He got it this past fall.  I like it, I think it is really neat.

Reminds me of taking Silly Putty and using it to pull off a comic from the Sunday newspaper.  He calls it Rooty.  It is on his forearm.  He keeps asking when I am going to get one.  Yeah, no.

Have a great day.
