Monday Morning

Finally, we are getting some rain.  It has been so dry here.

I have been planting seeds here and there.  We are planning on building a raised bed.  We are going to buy three 10 feet boards.  We will cut one in half and we will have a 10 X 5 frame.  I am hoping that this will do better than the yucky garden we had last year.  Bri planted a salad garden in one of the pots.  She is so excited.  She asked than when the salad is ready to pick, if she can make dinner that night.  I told her that was a great idea.

I have a recipe to share:

Great Dry Rub Mix
1/2 cup paprika
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup pepper
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup chili powder
1/4 cup ground cumin
1 Tbsp Cayenne pepper
1 Tsp onion powder
1 Tsp garlic powder

Combine all ingredients.  Store in an airtight container.  Use with ribs, steak, chicken, or pork.

More fun at the Rodeo

We spent the day at the Rodeo again yesterday.  Bri did mutton bustin again.  She didn't go as far, but she really enjoyed herself.  I think her legs are way too long.  LOL

We spent the afternoon at the park.  We watched one of the other kids fire off the rocket him and his siblings made.  We also got to use a zipline.  Bri loved that.  It was sunny and not quite 70 today.  So it was a great day.

Got my history curiculum.  Story of the World.  It looks good.  I also got Pioneer Days.  That looks even more fun.

I won a great book online called "Everthing Homeschooling."  It is a great book.  There is also a website that is very helpful.  Please visit http://www.everythinghomeschooling.com/    Lots of ideas and help.

Have a wonderful day!

Bri at the Rodeo Year 2

Yes, it is a real bull.  Yes, she loves every minute of this.

What I don't have pictures of is Bri doing Mutton Busting.  This is when kids get a helmet and a jacket, hang on to a sheep and they open the gate and the sheep takes off with the kid hanging on to their back!!!  What a riot!!!   She held on for about 30 feet.  The first try the sheep went down and they gave her another try.  I bought the DVD of her ride.  I should get that in a few weeks.

I told her that she is a real cowgirl now!!!

If you ever get the chance to come to the Houston Rodeo, go.  It is really neat.  There is so much to see.

Have a wonderful night!!
