Monday Meanderings

It has been banging and booming here today.  Lots of thunder and lighting and heavy rain.  The rain has been coming down in sheets.  We needed the rain, but not all at once.

I am vegging out today.  I opened a jar of SilverStar Texas Salsa.  It is Cilantro'nLime.  MMMmmm.  A bit nippy.
It was in a Christmas gift basket.  Bought the nice extra thin chips at the store the other day.

I have a loaf of country white bread in the machine.  We are using alot of bread now that Bri is back to school.

My bedroom is nearly cleaned, cleared, and put away.  I have one more pile to go thru.  It is great not to have to step around and over stuff.  I hope to get Bri's room done this week.

Here is a salad dressing recipe passed to me.  It sounds strange, but is very good.

1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 1/2 cups olive oil (or the like)
1/2 cup vinegar (white, red, or cider)
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon garlic

Mix sugar, paprika, ketchup, salt, and onion powder.
Add oil and vinegar alternatively
Add celery seed and garlic
Keep refrigerated

Makes 1 quart

What is your favorite dressing?  Mine is Balsamic Vinegrette.

Please share your favorite dressing recipes.

Thursday Morning

It has been a busy week.  With Bri getting back to the school routine and all.

I have been doing lots of crochet.  I am wanting to get some Christmas presents done.  I love quick projects that I can take with me.

We had someone take Tucker with them last night.  We pray that they will like him and keep him.  He really needs a good home.  He is a sweet boy.

Have a wonderful day.

The first day of school.

Bri is off to school this morning.  She was so excited.  There is ten in her class.  Only three boys.  She loves her teacher already.

We had a wonderful trip to Galveston.  You all are going to kill me because I only took one picture.  I forgot to take my camera on the dolphin tour boat ride.  But we saw lots of them.  Some were gray and some were black.  Bri got a really big kick out of it.  It was really hot and humid.  We let Bri swim in the hotel pool for awhile.  Then George bought her an hour of video game time in the hotel room.  Easily got her to come in out of the pool.  We ate out at nice places.  Went to the "Strand".  It is the historical district of Galveston.  Very nice.

Found a beautiful store that sells bath items, jewlery, and candles.  Anne Smith, the owner was a very lovely women.  If you are looking for a nice gift or ever in Galveston, please look them up.  The name of her shop is  Scent Sations.  Or at   The link will be on my sidebar.  I got Rose scented linen spray.  You must treat yourself to linen spray.  It is a real treat.  Plus I got bath salts in Rose and a seashell soap for Bri.

Well, I am going to take advantage of a quiet house and get some cleaning done.  Take care and God Bless.

We are off to Galveston again.

We are going to be in Galveston this week.  I will have lots of pictures when we get back.  This is last trip before school starts.  We are praying that the weather holds up for us to take a dolphin tour.

Have a wonderful week.

Tuesday Tales

Yes, I made it thru my 40th birthday.  I got five crochet books, a new pair of boots, a silver cross necklace, and taken to my favorite Mexican place for lunch.  My sister Anne sent me a few cds.  That made my day.

Bri lost another tooth.  Tooth Fairy is getting broke!!!  So she has no tooth on the left side and 1/2 in on the other.  Very cute.

It has been so hot here.  The humidity is terrible.  So we do any errands first thing in the morning.

I have found a nice group of ladies to meet with and do crochet.  They meet at a library that is a few miles from me.  I went last Thursday.  I am hoping to go tonight.  It depends on the weather since I have to cross the bridge that I don't like.

I am working on two afghans.  One for my Mom and one for my sister Anne.

Bri goes to school on Aug 23rd.  Open house is the 20th.  She can't wait.  I have to say I will be glad for the break.  I have lots of organizing that I want to get done and it is easier when she isn't home.  LOL

Tuesday Tales

Good muggy hot Tuesday morning.  We just got back from taking the male puppy to the vet.  He is going to be fixed.  SIL's boss takes care of all the dogs that they find.  He has a heart of gold.  Hopefully, it will speed up finding a home for him.  He is a cute little bug.

Today I am thinking about looks.  Not really vain.  I am letting my hair go gray.  I am not wasting the time and money trying to color.  I am not really a big makeup person.  I like some cream eyeshadow, mascara, liner, blush, mineral veil, and lip stick if I am going out.  But most days I just use moisterizer.  With the humdity and heat of Texas, you should just forget about anything else.  I use just regular Olay.  I use an eyecream that I got as a freebie when I bought something at the Clinque counter.  I like their cream eyeshadow.  Plus the lipstick was in a pink case and money went to Breast Cancer.  I prefer wash and wear hair.  I don't fuss with curling irons.  I do like to use a dryer with a brush here and there.  I like comfortable clothes.  I shop alot at Avenue.  I am plus sized and they have good deals.  I actually bought a dress for 15.00.  I usually wear long skirts to church.  If I had the money, I love Eddy Baur.  If you don't know what that is, it is alot like LLBean.

Well, I have gone on long enough.  I am getting together my Christmas list.  I am starting to make gifts.  I have two afghans on the list.  Plus scarves and orniments.  Wish me luck!!

This is Christmas 2009

Monday Meanderings

Good Morning!  I am doing better this morning.  Took a sinus pill and have got the drainage to stop.

I am up to my eyeballs in laundry.  Between Bri being sick and me being sick, laundry got backlogged.

My thought this morning is letting advise, comments, or just chatter of people who are working against you roll off.  It is very hard to hear what God is telling you if you are listening to the negatitive things going on around you.  I am working on not getting drawn into the fray.  Some people have nothing better than to complain and crab.  They aren't happy unless they are doing this.  They aren't happy unless they are cutting down someone.  This is so toxic.  You know people like this.  I wish I could say that I didn't care what they said.  I get my feelings hurt very easily.  That is one thing that I would like to change.  There is only One that I really need to please.

Here is a picture of the new door that leads to our patio.
