Yes, I am still around

Yes, I am still here.  I got sick last Saturday and was sick almost all week.  I had a temp of 103.  Guess who got strep throat?  Me.  So it has been a very bad week for me.  But, I am glad that I got the strep and Bri got the stomach virus.  I wouldn't have wanted her to be that sick.

George got really worried when I asked him if he had fed the rabbits and shut the barn up.  I haven't had rabbits in more than a year.  Seems that I was a bit goofy.  (ok, more goofy than usual)

I lost weight and look pretty yucky.  But I am getting back to the grind.

I am so grateful for my wonderful hubby.  He ended up taking care of Bri and I.  Then the doxie got bit or stung and had to go to the vet.  Words can't express my thanks to him.   I am so very blessed.

We will be married 13 years on Aug 4th.  We have had our ups and downs.  He is my best friend.

I am looking to turn 40 on Aug 7th.  It has had me thinking alot lately.  More on that thru the week.  I think that I will do another giveaway.  I will have to see.

On a different note, my niece's and my sister's lives are in shambles at this time.  I don't really want to get into it here.  It is a long and complex story.  Please pray for them and my niece's kids.  It isn't good.

I think that turning 40 is making me think about life.  What has passed, what is coming, and what I want to be different, the same, or don't know.

So I guess I will leave a question:

At 40, is it easier to look back and look at bad experiences and look at them more clearly and see them as learning times and not as the "worst time of your life"?     When I was in my early 20's, I got into a relationship that was less than ideal.  I thought then that I had wasted the three years that I had dated this guy.  But looking at it now, I learned much.  Mostly about myself and how I wanted to be treated by people.  I think that everyone chooses poorly from time to time.  All I really lost was some time and some pain.  Emotionally and phyically.  But I am thinking now that it was just a tear in the quilt of my life and the sooner that I mended it, the stronger the quilt was.

I am rambling a bit.  But I think that I am in the point of my life that I want to put some things to rest and pull closer the things that are important.

I guess also that I am entering a new season of my life.  I hope the next 40 are as bright and interesting and full of love as the last 40.

God Bless.

We got out of the house today!!

Bri was feeling better and wanted to go spend her tooth fairy money.

So I got some yarn and two new books and Bri got a game for her DS.

I am going to make four season coasters for Christmas gifts.  I am using "Round Coaster" pattern from     I am using 100% cotton yarn in four seasonal colors.  This is the Spring choice.

Then I found two new books.  I am into prayer shawls again and afghans.

I guess that I will be busy!!  Ha Ha
Have a wonderful day.

Bri has been sick

I haven't been on much as Bri has been really sick.  It started Friday.  She was really quiet all day and then she didn't want her dinner.  Her temp was up.  Then the throwing up started.  She threw up Fri - Sun.  She had a 104.7 temp yesterday.  But today she seemed better and was hungry.  She went thru a case of Ginger Ale, Pedisure Pops, and almost a whole bottle of Advil.

We went through almost all the bed clothes.  So I had a nice pile of laundry.  I am lacking sleep and feeling really washed out.  So I spend the day washing clothes.  I put on a nice beef roast and a nice loaf of French bread.

Bri lost her front tooth about an hour ago.  It was so loose that she could wiggle it with her tongue.  I finally got a washcloth and pulled it out.  She got a Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cafe for letting me pull it out.  We got it some time back and she needed something new to keep her attention.  She got some Thomas the train things from Dad while she was sick.  She has been on a train kick since her and Daddy went to the train ride when the Lone Ranger saved them from the robbers.

So I am running on empty and hoping to be able to sleep tonight.  I can't sleep when Bri is sick.  She told me last night to leave her alone.  LOL

Have a wonderful day.

Tuesday Tales

We spent the day at Kemah yesterday.  Got coupons for 1.99 lunch for Bri and 1/2 price boat ride ticket and 1/2 price all day ride tickets.  We fed and petted the stingrays.  Then we went on the boat ride.  Wild.  It is a huge cigar boat.  We got totally soaked.  Bri had a blast.  They blast dance music and turn the boat to the music.  At full speed.  George wasn't thrilled about getting completely soaked.  But he enjoyed being cool for a while.   Ha Ha  Then we went to lunch at the Cadillac Bar.  It is Mexican food.  Plus they don't care that you are soaked.  Then we walked to the shops and Bri got some candy in the candy store.  We finished walking the shops and walked back to the truck.  (Still wet)   We decided to go the the San Jacinto Monument.  I figured since I have been here a year now, that I must go to the mounument.  It was errected to the Battle of San Jacinto.  Which Santa Ana was defeated in 18 minutes and Texas became a Republic.

We got home after 3:30.  We all go cleaned up and I took Bri to VBS at 5:45.  They are doing the bee program.  Very cute.  So I got a small break while she was there.  I got her at 8:00 and we got food at Chik-fil-A.  I love their chicken sandwiches and Bri loves the nuggets.  She was out by 9:00.  I wasn't up much longer.   LOL

Today I am getting caught up with laundry and housework.  Plus I have some work paperwork to do.  Not as fun.

We have coupons for buy one get one tickets to the Downtown Aquarium for Tuesdays.  So we might go there next Tuesday.  But lunch is pricey there.  But you don't have to leave.  So I guess it is better to just eat there.

Have a wonderful day.

Bri hamming it up.

Bri at the Circus

Bri had a great time at the circus.  She enjoyed walking on the tight rope and spinning plates on her finger.  She now wants to go to clown school.  LOL

I got talked in to going.  So I went also.  I have never been to a circus.  So it was a first time for me too!!

She really enjoyed the tight rope.  But when she saw where the regular guys did it, she didn't think she would do that.  She enjoyed them twirling on the fabric streamers.

This is Bri playing in the water at the Kemah Boardwalk.  Alot of places here in Texas have places like this so kids can cool off.  Bri loves it.  Plus it is free.  :)

I have been slacking off on working on my blog.  Please forgive me.

Today it is raining again.  Lots of flood warnings up.  So we went to the grocery store, to lunch, and paid two bills.  The bayou on I10 is really up.  I hope we get a break for awhile.

I am working on a prayer shawl for someone at church.  I picked Watercolors by Red Heart.  Very beautiful combo of colors.  I will have to get a pic.

We are going to have a fresh baked loaf of bread along with Cheddar Broccoli soup for dinner.  I love the Bear Creek mixes.  You can even find them at Wal mart.  I use more milk.  Especially since the Kroger that I go to has Organic milk on clearance all the time.  Organic items aren't popular here.  So for the price of regular milk I pick up Organic.  It tastes so much better.

I will have Saturday to myself.  George and Bri are going with SIL and friends to the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Baily Circus.  Bri can't wait.  I will most likely be doing paperwork.  But I am glad to have peace to do it in.

I got Bri's school supplies and uniforms out of the way this week.  Ouch.  School supplies and uniforms were both around 75.00 for each.  But it is for the whole year and uniforms are so much cheaper than regular clothes.

Well, I need to check my soup and my bread.  Take care and God Bless.

Tuesday Tales

Congrats to my sister the author!!!

Did you ever think that rumors could kill??  In this story, it does.  This is the findings from a murder in the early 1970's in rural Ohio.  Two older farmers killed over the rumor of hidden money.  This is a true story.

I am so very proud of my sister, Anne Lowery.  She is a huge history buff.  I think that it runs in the family.  Here's to you sis!!!   I love you and am very proud of you.

Fantastic Friday

It is rainy and stormy here today.  We needed some rain, but I think that we are way caught up.  LOL

Doing bedclothes today.  My chores are all off because of my trip.  I need to bake a loaf of bread today too.  I have a hankering for soup for dinner.

Another great place in Kemah is Kemah Burgers.  Fantastic and cheap.  I have to admit that I had the best burger I have had in a long time.  I love waffle fries too.

We will stay here over July 4th.  The neighbors go crazy with fireworks and we have to keep an eye on things so it won't start a fire.  But if it keeps raining, we may be floating for the holiday.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend and God Bless America!!

I am home

We just got home from Kemah.  We had a really nice time.  Got some wild weather last night.  But we rode the Boardwalk train in the hurricane.  LOL

Had a really nice hotel room at the Days Inn.  The room was huge.  We got two queen sized beds.  Bri loved her big bed.

Found a really nice place to buy soap.  The prices were reasonable and the soaps were wonderfully scented and lathered up really nice.

Ok Mom, get the picture already and let me ride!!
